At a glance
- Christmas: Friday, 25 December 2026. New Year: Friday, 1 January 2027.
- Confirm personal leave and arrival before the celebration you want.
- No specific party, departure, price or snowfall is promised.
Separate the two holiday windows
The Christmas weekend is 25-27 December 2026. The New Year weekend is 1-3 January 2027, with New Year’s Eve on Thursday, 31 December. These are calendar dates, not a promise of your employer’s leave arrangements.
If you want to attend an event on the evening of 31 December, plan to arrive before it with time to check in and rest. A holiday beginning on 1 January does not create a free travel day on 31 December. Similarly, a late arrival on Christmas Day may miss the specific celebration you had in mind.
Choose the experience first
| Preference | Consider | Important trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Beach time, food and an optional evening out | Goa | Delhi transport, airport transfer and event arrangements |
| Forts, city walks and shared meals | Jaipur, Udaipur or Jodhpur | Which attractions and properties operate on your dates |
| A desert stay and city exploration | Jaisalmer | Enough leave for the full Delhi journey and camp transfer |
| Mountain scenery and time at one base | A suitable Himachal or Uttarakhand town | Weather, road conditions, daylight and contingency time |
The regions are broad choices, not uniform experiences. The exact hotel and itinerary often matter more than the destination label. Ask what happens on an ordinary evening as well as on the celebration night.
Goa: decide whether a party is actually part of the brief
A Goa holiday can be about culture, meals and beach time without a ticketed party. Our three-day heritage and food plan provides one alternative. If a specific event is essential, verify its organizer, date, venue, entry conditions and transfer arrangements directly.
Check whether the accommodation imposes a compulsory gala meal or event charge, and whether the quoted amount includes it. Do not assume all properties do, or that all celebrations are included in a room price. Agree how non-participants will spend the evening and return to the hotel.
Rajasthan: match the route to your actual leave
For a shorter break, a single city such as Jaipur can avoid an extra intercity transfer. With suitable arrival and return services, Udaipur or Jodhpur can offer a different city experience. Jaisalmer needs its own Delhi travel calculation; a desert camp night is not automatically a quick weekend add-on.
Choose one main celebration or shared dinner, then keep the next morning realistic. A pre-dawn transfer after a late night may be a poor fit for the group. Use the Jaisalmer guide or the Udaipur plan to see what you would include without overloading every day.
Mountains: do not buy a snow guarantee
A winter mountain trip needs a usable plan even if snow does not fall or an intended excursion cannot operate. Keep the accommodation, local activities and return journey workable on their own. Read the Manali winter guide for the distinction between the town stay and weather-dependent outings.
Use dated official forecasts and route information close to departure, then get the operator’s actual decision and alternative in writing. A scenic archive photograph cannot establish conditions for late December. Avoid a rigid return with no allowance for disruption when the next day’s commitment is essential.
Compare the full commitment before paying
Record your leave dates, transport, named property, room basis, mandatory charges, optional event tickets and local return transfers. Read the cancellation terms for each separately booked component. A ticketed event and a hotel booking may have different conditions.
For a social group, establish the expected pace, optional activities and room arrangements before choosing on price alone. Ask RARA about available options for the holiday window you can actually travel. This advance-planning guide does not announce confirmed year-end departures, parties or prices.
