At a glance
- Diwali: Sunday, 8 November 2026.
- Two, three or four days means total time away unless stated otherwise.
- Check the actual fare, hotel nights and return time before choosing.
Start with the calendar, not a package label
The CPRI 2026 calendar lists Diwali on 8 November; your workplace may follow a different leave policy. A Friday holiday, Monday leave or another festival break must be confirmed individually. Do not book from the assumption that everyone has four days off.
Write down the earliest time you can leave Delhi and the latest time you must be back. If you want to spend Diwali evening at home, exclude it before choosing dates. A short pre-Diwali or post-Diwali break can suit you better than travelling through the festival itself.
What fits your available time?
| Actual time away | A useful shortlist | Main decision |
|---|---|---|
| Two days | A selective Jaipur break or Rishikesh stay | Can the return leave enough destination time? |
| Three days | One base in Jaipur, Udaipur or Mussoorie | Choose workable transport before adding sights |
| Four days | A fuller single-base trip, Goa with suitable flights, or a selective combination | Compare actual usable days, not only nights |
| Longer leave | Jaisalmer or a slower mountain plan | Count the complete Delhi journey |
These are planning choices, not guaranteed travel times. Start with fewer stops and add only what the booked services allow. An early arrival may help, but it does not guarantee immediate hotel check-in.
Two days: keep the destination list short
For Jaipur, choose the old-city sights and one main fort block rather than adding Pushkar. Our Jaipur two-day guide shows a selective structure. Rishikesh can suit people who want time by the river without making an adventure activity essential; see the Rishikesh guide without rafting.
For either choice, compare the time you will actually be in the destination after road or rail travel. A bus night is transport, not a hotel night, and a Sunday return does not leave Sunday entirely free for sightseeing.
Three or four days: buy time, not more stops
Udaipur works as a city-and-lake plan when your arrival and return services fit. Mussoorie offers a different experience built around a hill-town base and optional walks. Choose based on the group’s interests and tolerance for transfers, rather than assuming one is universally better in November.
Goa needs its own flight or rail calculation from Delhi, plus the correct airport and accommodation transfer. If flights leave you only one full day, a three-day label may be misleading. Read the Delhi-to-Goa planning guide before comparing its price with an overland short break.
For Jaisalmer, use our three-destination-day itinerary and add the actual Delhi transit. Do not compress it into the same leave allowance merely because both guides say “three days”.
Compare festival-period costs without guessing
Get dated quotes for the same departure, room-sharing basis and included transfers. Add taxes, meals not included, admission and any mandatory event or meal charge disclosed by the property. A general report about festival fares cannot tell you the price of your own route.
Compare the total amount at risk if plans change, not just the lowest headline price. Ask when a group departure becomes confirmed and how the operator handles insufficient participation. Read cancellation conditions before making separate non-refundable transport bookings.
Make a decision in four lines
Record: available dates; maximum total budget; preferred trip style; latest return time. Then choose one primary option and one simpler alternative. This gives a group a practical way to agree without debating ten destinations at once.
Share those four details with RARA and ask about available arrangements. This is a leave-planning guide, not a list of confirmed Diwali departures or guaranteed celebrations.
