Two days in Jodhpur versus two days from Delhi

This plan assumes two usable days after arriving in Jodhpur. Your Delhi journey is additional unless your booked services leave those blocks available. Do not treat a late Day 1 arrival and early Day 2 return as two full sightseeing days.

Choose a single city base and check its access with luggage. A stay inside older lanes may have a different vehicle drop-off from a larger roadside property. Agree on the exact arrival meeting point before the group splits into separate taxis or trains.

Day 1: Mehrangarh and Jaswant Thada

Make Mehrangarh the main visit and allow time for the museum rather than stopping only for the view. The Mehrangarh Museum Trust visitor page, checked on 6 October 2026, lists the museum and Jaswant Thada as open daily from 9am to 5pm. Reconfirm last entry and any event-related change before travel.

Visit Jaswant Thada in a separate block with a meal or rest break between the two. Do not mistake the Trust’s later café hours for museum opening hours. Ticket categories, guide services and any separate access arrangements should be checked directly.

A group can meet for lunch and continue together, while allowing those who want less museum time to rest at an agreed location. Check walking surfaces, slopes and access needs with the venue rather than describing the whole day as effortless.

Day 2: choose a city focus

Use the second day for a manageable old-city outing around the clock-tower and market area, with time to browse and eat. Choose a further museum visit or a nature-focused block according to the group’s interests, instead of adding every place on the tourism list.

The Trust lists Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park beside Mehrangarh, with October-March hours of 8am to 5:30pm on the page checked for this guide. The park is an optional walking choice, not a mandatory addition to a short stay. Verify the current route, entry arrangements and suitable footwear.

Keep the final block flexible if you depart that day. Loading luggage, reaching the station or airport and reporting for the booked service all belong in the itinerary.

Marwar Festival: what the calendar does and does not confirm

The official state calendar gives 24-25 October 2026. This article does not establish the 2026 daily venues, performance times or admission arrangements. Historical lists of festival venues are not a substitute for a current programme.

If the festival is your main reason to travel, verify the activity and location directly before committing to inflexible bookings. Once the programme is available, replace one optional city block with that event rather than adding it on top of an already full day. A city guide remains useful if the event plan changes.

What to leave out of a short Jodhpur break

Keep Jaisalmer and an overnight desert stay for a longer itinerary. They add intercity travel, another accommodation decision and a return-route question. Compare the four- or five-day Jodhpur-Jaisalmer plan if both places matter to you.

Likewise, do not add a rural excursion just because it is described as “near Jodhpur”. Decide what you would remove to give that excursion a proper time block. For a first city visit, fewer well-chosen stops can leave more room for the group to enjoy being together.
